The Art Of Being Icelandic

An exhibition featuring Icelandic literature in translation and Icelandic design will be open at the Reykjavik City Hall from June 28th to July 28th 2013. Here, you can sit down and look through books by Icelandic writers in different languages; from Sagas to modern crime stories, poetry, children’s books, books about Iceland and the Icelanders

You will also be able to listen to readings from poetry and prose by some of Iceland’s best known authors on one of our “Literary Retreats”, a city bench equipped with recordings in English.

The exhibition is Curated by Ingi Thor Busk, designed by Sigrún Gréta Heimisdóttor and  hosted by the City Hall, Reykjavik UNESCO City of Literature and the Icelandic Literature Center. It gives a good overview of contemporary Icelandic literature of all genres as well as pointing out literary sites of interest in Reykjavik.
